How Internet Marketing Helped Me to Play and Blog About World of Warcraft

As many of you have figured out by now I'm not a typical blogger. In fact I wouldn't even call myself a blogger, but rather an internet marketer who runs blogs for profit. Some people consider this unpure and unethical, but I think of it as providing quality content that is so good that the information can be sold. That being said, having the mindset of an internet marketer has helped me greatly in World of Warcraft for several reasons. It has also provided you with a unique look at World of Warcraft which you won't get from any other WoW blog on the net.

1. Diversification - I will never ever try to make all my money from one source. Whether it is daily quests for professions, flipping items, crafting for resale, etc. I always diversify my selling options sometimes to the point of hundreds of markets at once.

2. Automation - Getting as much automation into the equation as possible gives you more time which makes you more gold which opens up more opportunities to make more gold. Time = gold and automation = tons of saved time. The difference between someone who uses snatch scans and QA3 in combination and someone who doesn't is the same as the differences between night and day. 3. Perception vs Reality - Perception always has to be present to make a sale. Then, when the person has made the purchase then the reality has to at least live up to the perception. When selling items to buyers scamming them is never the right call because you lose that buyer forever.

4. Never Stop Learning - The World of Warcraft is just that, a living breathing world of information. You can never stop learning when attempting to improve on your own performance. New patches, new ideas, and new methods are constantly appearing and it's the job of a successful businessman to do his research and go find this information.

Passive Income > Work - Having farmers send me their goods, especially having farmers mill, prospect, or craft for me before sending the items, has done wonders for improving my income in World of Warcraft. After getting enough farmers to send their goods to me on a daily or weekly basis, there is never a reason to go farming ever again in WoW. That's as close to passive income as it can get in this game.

6. Community - Participating in and setting up the JMTC WoW Gold Forums has provided not only myself, but my readers with a place to congregate and freely share ideas about making gold in World of Warcraft. It was the JMTC forums that I learned about several great post worthy topics which I have blogged about in the past and put to use in World of Warcraft. There's always someone out there smarter than you or bigger than you, why not learn from them instead of being jealous?

7. You have no control over the market - Yes you can influence the market and perhaps do it more than the average player depending on your gold levels, but you never ever truly control it. This is a hard fact about economics that many players and real world traders have trouble grasping. I can't stop 300 people from posting ink of the seas 5 gold less than me. Whether you react or don't react to a market situation is the only quasi-control you have over the market. You have influence, but no control.

8. Credibility is Everything - I could not sell carrying packages for 1800 rating in 2's (and sometimes 2000 rating) without my gladiator title or YouTube videos. Credibility really does follow you everywhere and it is always the difference between making a sale and getting the same old, familiar cold shoulder.

9. No Idea isn't Worth Trying - Regardless of what you decided to try, it's never stupid to try it out and take a risk. When I first started selling essences of undeath I had no idea whether the lifestealing enchant would be enough of a market to sell them. Boy was I happily underestimating how many I would sell and for how much. Soon I was selling them for 400-800% of the cost to initially buy them for reflipping purposes. Never say never.

10. Grouping Up has its Benefits - Just like in online marketing, grouping up with a team of people has tremendous advantages for making additional income. By focusing on group strengths and dividing up tasks based on those strengths, in this case professions, you can greatly increase the gold generated by the group. Setting up professions for specific characters and dividing up the work between multiple players/characters has worked out surprisingly well for me. Currently I have loose agreements with three other high profile sellers on my server which allows us to avoid stepping on each other's toes and focus on our own areas of making gold. We have each picked a set group of items for each profession as well as times of posting and we try to avoid undercutting wars between the four of us. It's mostly an informal and unorganized thing regarding the time of our postings, as we simply look at who's on and decide based on that for ourselves but it's still a loose grouping of people with the aim of achieving a similar goal: more gold for everyone.

There are plenty of people out there who claim that they are "hardcore gamers"; people who spend countless hours on counter strike or Team Fortress 2, but not actually trying out other genres of games. I guess you can categorize the different types of gamers out there; FPS gamers, RPG gamers, or RTS gamers. I believe that being a true hardcore gamer, you'd have to be good at every game you play and be able to pick up on the game play right away.

I figured that with this article, I would discuss about the different gamers out there and their preferred games. To start the ball rolling, I just have to mention that all gamers are very skilled in what they do. Each type of genre requires great deal of thinking and strategizing.

I would have to classify RPG gamers as one of the most patient gamers out there. The reason for this is because in RPGs (role playing games), it usually requires you take a character's part (step into their role) and plan out how the character will grow through-out the game. This can be tough to do because not only do you have to plan out how your character will turn out in the end, but you'll also need to work hard to achieve the results you want for your character. For instance, if you've ever played any of the final fantasy series game, you'd know that you're "controlling" a team of fantasy characters such as wizards, warriors, archers, etc. To get a good strong team, you would need to make sure that all your team members have the strongest items and good stats. To get good stats, you'd need to make sure that you level them up; and to level up, you would need to defeat plenty of enemies. All of this takes a lot of time and effort.

Another good example for this would be Massive multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGs). If you haven't heard of world of warcraft yet, then I'm afraid you've been living under a rock. MMORPGs are pretty much RPGs but played online. There are hundreds of thousands playing world of warcraft all over the world trying to build their character to have the best stats and have the best equipment. Believe me when I say, it takes a long time to be a decent player.

While the appeal for many is to play the game and develop their farm alongside their friends, for others, playing alone may offer the same type of enjoyment, as the game is entirely playable and enjoyable solo if desired. In this respect, social games are very much similar to MMORPG's, which provide a setting and an environment where gamers can play together, but don't ultimately force gamers to do so.

That said, most FarmVille players have two main things in mind when playing the game, and those are developing their farm as quickly and effortlessly as possible, and building up their number of friends and contacts who play the game. The fact that these goals go hand in hand makes them that much more desirable, as the more friends you have, the more opportunities you'll have for quickly developing your farm and acquiring bonus money and items.

Keep Your Friends Close...and Strangers Away

The more socially active among us, such as those boasting Facebook friend's lists in the triple digits, should have no trouble connecting on the farm with at least a few of their friends who already play the game. For those lacking such robust friend's lists though, one of FarmVille's greatest flaws is exposed. Unlike other games, such as the aforementioned MMORPG's, where you can play with thousands of gamers worldwide without fear, FarmVille makes it more difficult to so easily enjoy the company of others.

Those with little to no friends playing the game will be forced to either play the game alone, or add random people to their friend's list. There are numerous Facebook groups dedicated to this pursuit, bringing gamers together and allowing them to connect and become friends for the purpose of helping each other through the game as quickly as possible. In this way they can enjoy the benefits of playing with others, though the drawbacks are obvious. Adding these people as friends gives them access to personal information you probably won't want them to have access to. Whatever is a farmer to do?

Privacy Made Easy...Like Customizable Drapes for Your Window

The solution to this whole conundrum is not nearly as nerve wracking or brain twisting as it may appear on the surface. Facebook is outfitted with powerful privacy tools that allow you to fully customize who can view what information and images are contained within your profile. Most people know that this extends as far as allowing them to specify which specific groups can access what information, be it friends only, the friends of those friends, or everyone.

What many Facebook users don't know is that these privacy tools are taken a step further, allowing them to block specific users from accessing certain information, be they friends, friends of friends, or what have you. In this way, FarmVille players can invite and add numerous people to their friend's list while still having total control over what information these relatively unknown people are able to see.

To accomplish this, go to the settings tab, and from there to the privacy settings. From the contact information and profile information sub menus within privacy settings you'll see numerous settings that can be customized. For those which you would like to block access to specific people, choose the customize option from the drop down menu, and then input the name(s) of the user(s) in question.

These privacy tools not only allow you to experience FarmVille the way it should be experienced, but it also gives you access to several additional features (such as being able to visit your neighbour's farms to give them a helping hand), and items (which become unlocked as you acquire more and more neighbours). Best of all, you may even get to know and become true friends with those strangers through the course of building your farms together, which is the real joy to be had in social gaming.

1. Talk to the Recruiter for the Brave in the Prontera Castle (prt_castle 83, 67). Tell him you're interested in his mission, which is to visit a "special place." He then asks you to visit a Promotional Staff member in Aldebaran.

2. Talk to the Promotional Staff member in Aldebaran (aldebaran 127, 138). As a test, he asks you to bring him 300 Jellopy. After handing over the Jellopy, he asks you to visit a Promotional Staff Member in Geffen.

3. In Geffen, talk to the staff member (geffen 90, 67). He asks you to bring 1 Emerald. After turning it in, he asks you to bring 1 Ruby. Bring him the Ruby, and he sends you to talk to the next staff member in Izlude.

4. In Izlude, talk to the staff member (izlude 99, 136). He tells you that you've passed the tests, and to talk to the Recruiter in Prontera Castle again.

5. Return to the Recruiter, who says you are now ready to explore the "Ash-Vacuum" which is an entirely different place from Rune Midgard. He tells you go to to Lighthalzen to register for the United Midgard Alliance.
* Receive 660,000 Base EXP
* Receive 210,000 Job EXP

6. In Lighthalzen, go into Rekenber HQ (lighthalzen 101, 246) and talk to the Guards upstairs (lhz_in01 124, 234), who let you in to register.

7. Talk to Sikaiz at the front of the room, who's giving a speech.

8. After Sikaiz is finished lecturing, speak to him again and he will tell you about the Ash Vaccum and Satan Morroc's gateway

9. Speak to him again and he will ask you to inform the Alliance Manager in Rune Midgards that they are ready to depart.

10. The Alliance Manager in Prontera Castle (prt_castle 121, 51) will discuss with you how the kingdom feels about the upcoming expedition.

11. Go back to Sikaiz in Lighthalzen, who tells you about the Three Kingdom's Alliance and his aide Munkenro. Munkenro interrupts your conversation and you're asked to deliver a message to the Alliance Manager in Rachel.

12. Find the Arunafeltz Alliance Manager outside the temple (ra_temple 119, 113) and report the status to her.

13. Go back to Sikaiz, who registers you and sends you to talk to some Officers to let them know of your departure. Go downstairs to the banquet hall (147, 179) and talk to them, but first you overhear them plotting to ignore the peace and take control of things for themselves.

14. Report back upstairs, but the guards won't let you in. Walk to (148, 257), where you're able to overhear Munkenro talking to someone.

15. Talk to the Guard outside of the lecture hall (lhz_in01 130, 231). Ask it to teleport you immediately to Morroc Field 20 (Continental Guard Quarantine), and talk to the Rift Guard (moc_fild20 349, 179). He takes you to the Dimensional Gorge.

16. From the middle of the right side of the map, go towards the center until you reach Munkenro (moc_fild22b 230, 197). He says Sikaiz has "retired" and that he is now the alliance leader. He also requires you to pass another test, by defeating 50 Mobsters.

17. After passing the test, talk to Munkenro again, who sends you to the Ash-Vacuum.
